Raul was born and raised in Peru amongst this fine breed. After leaving college in 1961, Raul began breeding Peruvian Horses, searching for his ideal type. In the late seventies, he took on the task to preserve and enhance the lineage of the Hacienda Cayalti horses. These were regarded for their fine gait, as those of the most depth of breed in the Peruvians. Years later, he became a prominent Breeder in Peru earning many National Championships in 1988 and 1989 with horses such as *RyR Galileo and *RyR Fantasia. Raul moved to the USA with his horses and throughout the 1990's and presently continues to breed, both in Peru and the US, importing his stock and making a positive influence on the breed with his famous RyR bred horses. Raul has judged every National Show in Countries where horses exist in North, Central and South America, Europe, as well as the Peruvian National Show - the largest show in the world. At age 61, he continues to give seminars, writes numerous articles, and along with his staff, takes in a few select horses for their easy to deliver manner of training, applying modern, more humane, techniques along with traditional Peruvian methods. |
