Welcome to the Southern California Peruvian Paso Horse Club (SCPPHC)
Competitive Ride Clinic.

The staging area for the ride will be the parking area of the Live Oak Group Campground at Cachuma River in Lake Cachuma Recreation Area. This scenic lake is located in the eastern end of the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley.

The ride will include a variety of terrains, including dirt roads, trails, wooded glens, water crossings, sandy washes and rocky river beds. We will ride over rolling hills and through flat pasture areas.

THIS IS NOT A RACE! You will follow clearly marked trails with specified minimum and maximum riding times. You and your horse will be observed over the duration of the ride by experienced veterinary personnel. The way you handle and care for your horse, his/her condition and capability to continue will factor into the judging. Pulse and respiration (P&R) rates will be monitored.

Stallions must be well mannered and ridden by an adult; double tied when left unattended. (NOTE: Double Tied is two halter, two lead ropes, tied individually.) It is strongly recommended that all horses be shod due to the nature of the terrain.

Eligibility: Peruvian Paso Horses must be four years of age (48 months) or older. Riders fifteen years of age or older are eligible to compete.

Juniors: All Junior riders must wear a ASTM/SEI, Snell or other equally approved equestrian helmet at all times when mounted. Chin strap must be attached correctly. Juniors may not ride stallions. It is highly recommended by ride management that all riders wear an approved equestrian helmet. All riders under 18 must have a responsible adult at the staging area and management prefers that said rider be accompanied on the ride by an adult.
