Pasos de Oro
Ripon, Califonia

Click here for Kelly & Nick's site for even more information!!

Nick and Kelly have been top competitors in both the "Junior" division and the "Open" division since they were very young.

Nick's achievements:

AAOBPPH Harry Bennet Hight Point Junior in 1990, 1992, 1993, and 1998
PPHRNA High Point Junior in 1998
in addition to winning many Regional and National championships.

Kelly's achievements:

AAOBPPH High Point Junior in 1994, 1997
PPHRNA High Point Junior in 1997
in addition to winning many Regional and National championships.

Both have received a lot of help and education from many people. They would like to give some help to the juniors that are in our breed now. Their thought is to offer our experience as a competitor in the arena, and to also offer a place for the current juniors to get to know each other better.

"And no adults allowed!! Well - I guess Nick and I are adults now!"

"Really though, we don't want any parents involved. Remember as a kid how you didn't want to listen to your parent, but would listen to your best friends parents say the same exact thing???"
We want this to be a strictly young, peer to peer interaction."

Topics to be covered in the seminar:
(These are just some of the topics we want to cover.)
- Show ring ettiquette
- Rules pertaining to Juniors (both AA and PP and the differences between them)
- Classes (like showmanship in hand, equitation etc)
- specifics on proper showing in these classes, what is expected, attire
- Grooming and care of your horse
- Tacking properly
- Manuvering in the show ring
- How to complete proper manuvers (circles, figure 8's etc)
- Sportsmanship
- Help preparing for other classes such as Champange, open adult classes

Juniors are welcome to bring their own horses, or if they don't have one, Kelly's mom has a limited number of horses that that can also be used. They are are planning to do fun things, like some games on horseback - with prizes even!!

Nick & Kelly recommend that participants arrive on Friday evening, if possible, so the seminar can begin on Saturday morning, and finish up Sunday afternoon. Kelly's mom (Stacey) has graciously offered her house so there can be a big slumber party Friday and Saturday nights. Also, a campfire, etc. is planned to make this fun, too.

Nick and Kelly are hoping that this will be a very educational seminar, but it is also a place for our junior compeitiors to get to know each other outside of the show ring. They realize how important this is after Nick and Kelly have gotten to know each other much better in the last year. They have been showing against each other since they were little kids, but had never gotten to know each other until a seminar they went to in Texas last year.

It is realized that this may not be accessible for juniors outside of California, but everyone is welcome! The ranch is within an hour or so of Three (3) major airports (Oakland, Sacramento and San Francisco) and quite often Southwest runs specials to any of these airports. There are a lot of juniors within a few hours of Ripon, so Kelly thought this was a great opportunity to offer these kids some free education and a great time.

If you have any suggestions, or would like to contact either me or Nick, please do.
