ROSES FOR THE
TEXAS LADIES ASIDE

The Texas Ladies Aside have been accepted for inclusion in the Tournament of Roses Parade scheduled January 1,1998 in Pasadena, CA!

Learning of the parade committee's interest in the unit just ten days before deadline, the ladies hurried to complete applications which had to include photos of each rider in the proposed parade costume on the horse that each intended to ride. Word of their acceptance was received by unit coordinator, Corey Hewitt, on August 11.

The T.L.A. was additionally asked if they would perform an exhibition on each day of the Family Festival to be held in the Rose Bowl on January 29 & 30, in conjunction with the parade. A video of past performances, including their fabulous routine at Equitana '96, was sent along with the parade application. They will be notified in October if they have been selected for the Family Festival event as well.

Twelve riders, Thirteen horses and Seven ground crew/banner carriers will leave Texas on December 26th for the cross-country haul, planning to arrive in Pasadena in time for the Parade Media Reception held on January 28. With any luck they will have time to bathe!

"This is the most prestigeous U.S. invitation yet for the Texas Ladies Aside," commented Pat Tharp, TLA President. "With over a million people lining the parade route and television coverage spanning the globe, it is an incredible opportunity to showcase our fabulous breed and the elegance of sidesaddle riding."

The Texas Ladies Aside will be the second Peruvian Paso group in the Tournament of Roses parade, joining the "Pasobilities" from California who have been participants for many years.

Plan to watch this spectacular Event of the Year and the beautiful Peruvian Paso Horses as they smoothly move along the Avenue with the gorgeous Texas Ladies Aside atop stylishly riding in sidesaddle!
